ALBUM REVIEW: "Happy To You" by Miike Snow

image via
I’ve known Miike Snow for quite a long time, always being responsible for some touching moments in Gossip Girl ;). His hit “Animal” is known by quite everyone, however, the Swedish band is rather in the alternative segment of our music industry.

His new album is a complete success, I absolutely love it! The first singles “Wave” and “Paddling Out" are fantastic, and are two of the best songs from the album. Even their remixes are awesome, which I regard as highly unusual! Other highlights are “Bavarian#1“, “Pretender” and a collaboration with Lykke Li “Black Tin Box”.

Miike Snow stays true to his style and creates a very catchy album with songs you can listen to a thousand times, they won’t get on your nerves. Even though, they don’t all stay in your memory, it’s the perfect background music for various situations. Go for the Deluxe Version!

PHOTO POST: Italia - Part I

Just a few weeks ago I have been able to go on a spontaneous trip to Italy and here are a few snapshots I've taken.
I was just really stunned and amazed by everything around me, never having been to the South of Italy before, all of the landscapes and the surroundings simply seemed magical to me.
On the first half of the photos you can see Amalfi, while the rest were taken in Positano. Even though it was quite a long drive, with probably over 2 and a half hours away from the tiny city we stayed in, Santa Maria di Castellabate, but it was well worth it!!!
The scenery was simply breathtaking, hope the photos will be able to transform a bit of the sunny Italian atmosphere over to you too! :)

PHOTO POST: starting summer in MQ

To enjoy this year’s early summer, my good friends and me went to the city center to start out into the eventing by catching the last rays of sun! The atmosphere was wonderful, the whole of Vienna being surprised by the high temperatures remaining throughout the night. So I thought I would share the fun we had with you by posting some of the snapshots here!

BOOK REVIEW: "The Furies" by Fernanda Eberstadt

image via
When I googled “dramatic love story novels” this book was one of the two out of the lot that interested me the most (the first one was “The Pact” by Jodi Picoult, as recommended by me before). In the bookstore, the woman working there was all nuts about it telling me to bring loads of tissues while reading it. Would be a good sign…

Unfortunately, this 700-pages novel needs 250 pages to gather momentum with the reader. It just fails capturing your interest and the story was somehow too creepy for me to get involved. Every character seems to be weird and have strange attitudes and habits and, what’s more, everyone is described to be ugly and unattractive. How could Eberstadt do such a thing? Not good.

However, at some point, you just can’t stop reading as you simply get to know everything about the characters and you can’t help but get involved and want to know what happens to them. And then there’s the ending. The ending (the last 150) is truly read-worthy. It’s written in a very endearing style and moves the heart (as the woman from the book store told me :)) by daring to be unconventional.

All in all, though, this novel doesn’t offer enough to make me recommend it. Its plot is too freaky, its characters too unsympathetic and the first 250 pages are a pure nuisance.
